What Does an RV Technician Do?

An RV technician faces unique challenges every day in the workplace. Most of those challenges involve diagnosing, inspecting, repairing or even overhauling recreational vehicles, including travel trailers. Some RV technicians specialize in certain areas, such as gas, electrical, hydraulic, plumbing or chassis and towing systems, while many work repairing generators, interior components and appliances.

As one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand career fields, RV technicians out-earn their peers in other trades. In fact, USRV Master Technicians are among the highest-paid trades out there.

What’s the Work Environment Like for RV Technicians at Blue Moon Mobile RV?

Don’t let our friendly, casual work environment fool you – we take our jobs very seriously. We work hard to uphold our commitments to our customers and to all our employees.

As an RV technician at Blue Moon Mobile RV, we’ll provide you with a safe workplace that’s free from unnecessary distractions, and you’ll work with a great team that includes a shop foreman, apprentices and other RV techs. Some workplace hazards are inherent, because you’ll likely be working with or around fuel, liquids and other run-of-the-mill shop hazards.

You’ll be working with your hands from day one. You may have to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and you might have to work in a confined space.

You need good manual dexterity and balance, and you may have to work at heights of up to 20 feet. You’ll be exposed to Texas weather, and you’ll be expected to work Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The bottom line is that our goal is to provide the best service in the industry, and we do that by taking good care of every team member we have. Our benefits are epic – we offer 401-k plans, medical insurance, gas allowances, work phones, auto parts discounts and more – and the work environment is casual and fun. If you’re looking for more than just a job, Blue Moon Mobile RV may be the perfect place for you.

Ready To Speak To Our Team?

Fresh Challenges Served Daily

Today, you might work on a plumbing system in an RV’s bathroom.

Tomorrow, you might be working on a roof, a refrigerator or the brakes. Every day comes with new challenges, so if you’re up to the task and meet these criteria, we want to talk to you:

  • You’re mechanically inclined. You can figure out how something works if you take it apart, read the manual or see it in action, and you can spot problems that the average person without training can’t.

  • You’re a fixer. You like (or love – we’re not judging) to diagnose problems and then make those problems disappear. Many of our team members have a tough time walking away from a problem before it’s solved.

  • You have shop experience. You know your way around a tool box and you like working with your hands.

  • Your inner “mad scientist” has made you take apart and put together more than a few things just to see how they work.

  • You like learning new things and keeping up with new technology. You can think on your feet and you have no problem checking out equipment you’ve never seen before.

RV Technician Apprenticeship Opportunities

Not an RV tech yet? No worries. Our apprenticeship program is one of the only paid DOL apprenticeship programs in the industry, and we’re always looking for new talent. If you’re interested in becoming a USRV Master Technician, we’d love to talk to you about on-the-job training that earns you a certification while helping you pay your bills.
